The A5 is the German automaker’s first full-size coupe since the Audi 100, slotted somewhere between the A4 and A6 sedans. Considerably larger than the TT coupe, the A5 is marketed as a true four-seater.
The A5 comes with two engine options: a 211 horsepower 2.0-liter DOHC engine with FSI direct-injection and a turbocharger, and a premium 265 hp 3.2-liter V6 with FSI direct-injection. Audi also offers a separate high-performance model called the S5, and there are rumors about an RS5 variant as well. An A5-based convertible will eventually replace the A4, S4 and RS4 Cabriolets.
Transmission choices for the new two-door include six-speed manual, CVT, and DSG gearboxes. All-wheel-drive is offered across the board. Audi promises razor-sharp handling thanks to an engine placement behind the front wheels, resulting in better weight distribution than any existing Audi, aside from the mid-engine R8.
