2011 Honda Civic
Honda has decided to recall its 2003 and 2004 Honda Civic and Accords owing to some issues related to the ignitions system.
According to Christian Science Moitor – recall is due to “faulty ingnition-lock systems that allow drivers to shut off the engine and remove their keys without ever putting their vehicle into park. ”
The number of the cars effected with the recalls is close to 400,000. The recent recall issue is likely to seriously effect the sales of the 2011 Honda Civic. Interestingly, many auto review sites have been placing Honda at the top in the ranking of the cars. Honda Civic.
While the exact numbers are not known, the Monday recall from Honda is likely to affect close to 200,000 Accords and over 100,000 2003 and 2004 Civics. Besides the Honda Civics and Honda Accord, Honda Element is also affected by the recall, though in a smaller number.
The recall follows the several recalls from Toyota in the last couple of years – mainly due to the problem of unintended accelerations. However, the toyota recalls were of much larger scale in magnitude.
It remains to be seen how the recalls affects the Honda Sales. At present it looks like Ford is likely to gain with recalls about the Toyota and Honda, which has steadily gained in quality. Its recent launch of the 2011 Ford Explorer have earned several accolades in the past.
On Tuesday, August 10, the stocks of Honda (HMC) ended at 33.25. It will be interesting to see how the stocks of Honda move, in relation to the recent recall.
